April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month
Show Your Support
We believe that every child deserves a great childhood because children are our future. During Child Abuse Prevention Month, help us support Prevent Child Abuse Illinois by participating in our Pinwheel Garden!
This is the third year the Joliet Junior Woman’s Club has partnered with the City of Joliet to install a pinwheel garden along Essington Road – one of the busiest corridors in our city – during the month of April to raise awareness about child abuse prevention.
Deadline to purchase pinwheels is March 15th, 2019 so we can make sure we receive the shipment in time for April.
By its very nature, the pinwheel connotes whimsy and childlike notions. In essence, it has come to serve as the physical embodiment, or reminder, of the great childhoods we want for all children.
Your donation will go to purchase blue pinwheels to be displayed in front of businesses and along the parkway on Essington Road during the month of April. The proceeds will benefit Prevent Child Abuse Illinois, which hosts a number of programs that support healthy families in our community.
Make a donation, and we’ll do all the work! Volunteers from JJWC will plant the pinwheels in the grass in front of your business during the first weekend in April, and will take down the display at the end of the month.
Pinwheels are $1 each, plus $8 shipping per 50
