Past Service Projects

Each year, the Joliet Juniors participate in many service projects to help local organizations in our community. In addition, we plan one very special project to make a positive impact on others.

2016: Candy and Fun at Kidzfest

The Joliet Juniors  were thrilled to invite local area families to their third annual “Candy and Fun” booth at the Joliet Kidzfest on Saturday, August, 6th, 2016. Visitors to the Juniors booth played five candy-themed games and entered to win raffle prizes. The JJWC Kidzfest committee was co-chaired by Amanda Tancl and Candice Quinerly. “Kidzfest was another huge success,” said Amanda Tancl. “It was a great day for a great event. Our booth was busy the entire time with children and their families having fun!” Kidzfest 2016 was presented by Lewis University and featured interactive, educational, and fun activities sponsored by a variety of vendors.

2014-2015: Art Therapy Room

Joliet Junior Woman’s Club members assembled furniture, organized art supplies, and decorated a special new Art Therapy Room at Guardian Angel Community Services in Joliet. The room will be used by children receiving services through the center’s Groundwork program, which supports families who have experienced domestic violence. Guardian Angel Community Services recently moved to a new location on Ottawa Street in Joliet.

The Club’s Vice President, Kristen Wyss, organized this project on behalf of the club. She said, “We put every drawer together, hinged every door, and screwed about 240 screws. I’m ecstatic about the final product for the kids.” Guardian Angel staff member Debby Meeker added, “This room will be the home for a lot of healing.” To learn more about the many services offered at Guardian Angel Community Services, visit their website here.

 2013-2014: Children’s Learning Center

Led by our Vice President, Education Chair, and Fine Arts Chair, members created a new Math and Science Resource Center at the Warren Sharpe Community Center. Children can now have fun and learn math and science skills while sorting, counting, weighing, and measuring in this beautiful space.
